Richard Satchwell is Managing Director, Country CEO, and Head of Investment Banking, Australia at Barclays, based in Sydney.
Richard is responsible for leading Barclays' Australia growth initiatives since the firm reestablished its Australia office in 2018 and building further upon the momentum with its local strategic partner, Barrenjoey Capital Partners. Under his leadership, Barclays has been a leader locally in the Australian leveraged finance market, successfully re-established its place amongst the strongest capital markets banks for offshore issuance, and played an active role in offering innovative Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESC) solutions as well as supporting key clients across their acquisition financing requirements.
Richard joined Barclays in London in 2005. Most recently, Richard was Co-Head of Banking, in Australia before assuming the role as the sole lead and country CEO in 2020. Before the re-establishment in 201 8, Richard performed a number of Investment Banking roles for Barclays in London and Sydney with more than a decade of experience in Australia.
Before joining Barclays, Richard worked for Allen and Overy in London for six years as a Senior Associate in the Acquisition Finance group.
Richard has a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from Sheffield Hallam University, a diploma from the
College of Law (Chester), and is a qualified Solicitor in England and Wales.
